Peter Eyland, a former Lecturer in the School of Physics at UNSW, has an MA in Ancient History from Macquarie University.
His talk Syriac Christianity and the transmission of Greek science to the Arabs, is subtitled: "The nature and spread of Syriac Christianity, the coming of Islam, the development of science under Islam, croissants and the Renaissance". It should be a very interesting talk.
